Frederico Lapid Sr. or Ka Dicong is a meat shop owner in Manila that founded Lapid’s Chicharon in 1950’s. Of the 11 children of Ka Dicong and wife Ka Juana is Elena who is the 8th child. Elena migrated to the USA with husband Engr. Alfonso Salonga Jr. When Ka dicong visited Juana in the USA, he persuaded her to bring Lapid’s Chicharon to America thus the birth of Lapid Foods, Inc.
