(Xanthoxylum Peperitum)
Also known as ‘Fagara or Hua Jiao’, is the outer husk of a dried ripe red berry (reddish- brown shell with black seed inside) of aromatic Chinese Prickly Ash tree. The berries has moderate heat, peppery, stronger & pungent than black pepper, woody & resinous flavor and unique after-taste as well as tongue-numbing sensation.
Uses: Used in Sichuan dishes and Chinese Five Spice Mix. Also used sparingly in sauces, marinating food, and stewing meats for incomparably delicious flavor.
