Frederico Lapid Sr. or Ka Dicong is a meat shop owner in Manila that founded Lapid’s Chicharon in the 1950s. Of the 11 children of Ka Dicong and wife, Ka Juana is Elena who is the 8th child. Elena migrated to the USA with her husband Engr. Alfonso Salonga Jr. When Ka dicong visited Juana in the USA, he persuaded her to bring Lapid’s Chicharon to America thus the birth of Lapid Foods, Inc.
